Block # 31 - Evening Star, I remember the Minnesota starry nights, looking for the North Star, the big and little dippers and sleeping out on the ground at Gramma's and at campgrounds. The essay winner wrote that "men can hold deeds to the land, but the beautiful country view, they do not own". This block is easy to make and would look great in any color combination.
Block # 33 Farmer's Puzzle, easy block to piece and comes out looking sharp with the black & red. All the pieces in these blocks are like a puzzle, before I sew them, I lay them out as puzzle pieces so I know how they will look. Puzzles are relaxing!
Block # 45 "Grape Basket", I chose the greens for my grapes for a nice "white wine"! fun block to chose fabrics for and to sew. The essay focused on her and her husband's tremendous efforts to eradicate the "cons" of being a farmer, they tackled the hardships together and worked as a team to make farm life a great life, I love that concept.
