Table Runner, c.1905. 6 ft.-13/16 in. x 18-7/8". Long and narrow rectangle with appliqued and embroidered stylized poppies and branches at each end. Pale yellow and beige on off-white. Hemmed on four sides. Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt, Nat'l Design Museum, 1987-41-1. This table runner is medium: linen foundation, linen applique, linen and mercerized cotton embroidery technique: plain weave foundation; applique of plain weave and embroidery using stem, satin and bottonhole stitches.
