Marine Capt. Trevor J. Yurista Died October 27, 2008 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom 32, of Pleasant Valley, N.Y.; assigned to the 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; died Oct. 27 in Helmand province, Afghanistan, while supporting combat operations.
Sgt. Robert Huff and Cpl. Patrick O’Rourke with a Military Police Platoon rescue an Afghan child from encroaching flood waters in the Nari Shahi village in the Beshood District of eastern Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province on July 28. The flooding was caused when more than 6 inches of rain enveloped the area in a few hours. The platoon was returning from a patrol in the district and stopped to help the villagers when they realized the dangers of the situation.
Army SGT Shawn M. Farrell II, 24, of Accord, New York.. Died April 28, 2014, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Fort Drum, New York. Died of wounds sustained when hit by enemy small-arms fire during combat operations in Nejrab District, Kapisa Province, Afghanistan.
Major Keith A Butler was laid to rest in Arlington national cemetery after being KIA in Afghanistan 5 May 2014. Butler served 37 years in the Army and Marine Corps, and had 44 deployments under his belt. This man was a giant among men. He was one. Rest easy Doc
Marine Sgt Michael J. Guillory, 28, of Pearl River, Louisiana. Died December 14, 2012, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California. Died of head injuries sustained when his ATV slid into a ditch while placing strobe lights for a night supply air-drop in Puzeh, Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
Navy Special Warfare Operator 2nd Class Adam O. Smith Died September 21, 2010 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom 26, of Hurdland, Mo.; assigned to an East Coast-based SEAL Team; died Sept. 21 in Ayatalah Village, Afghanistan, in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crash during combat operations.
