Robe a la française dressed a la Polonaise, ca 1750-75. Beautifully handled. Sadly, this is the only image available. Silk brocade, with stripes and floral motifs. Trimming is white fly fringe, and I think some scanty ruching. The trim is set in symmetrical version of the a rococo pattern (is that a conundrum, or what?). The petticoat flounceing continues under the open robe, although I doubt it goes to the dress back. Bows at side emphasize the polonaise. Mint Museum, Chrlotte, NC

Detail of the petticoat, dress, French, 1780. The petticoat is of pink silk taffeta, with painted garlands. Kyoto Costume Institute.
