I use this chart as we begin our study of nonfiction. At the end of each week, students look at their weekly reading log and determine how many minutes they've spent reading fiction and how many minutes they've spent reading nonfiction. They then chart the number of minutes for each week (weeks are numbered along the bottom as 1, 2, 3, etc.). Students then make new weekly reading goals for the following week--should they spend time reading more nonfiction, more fiction, etc.
