Edvard Grieg (1843-1907) was a Norwegian composer whose musical inspiration came from the folk music and folk stories of his homeland. He wrote a range of musical forms, but concentrated primarily on piano compositions. His most popular music was written as incidental music for the play Peer Gynt.
