08 Jan 44: Ration tokens are introduced in the US to allow retailers to give back change for food bought with ration stamps. 8,000 rationing boards had been created across America to administer the program of issuing booklets of stamps dictating how much each person or family was allowed to buy per day, week, month or sometimes per year. Ration coins or tokens took on the form of a second American currency. #WWII #History
