I live, garden and work in Rhode Island. Blogging about my garden has allowed me to share it with others. I look forward to meeting new 'Flingers' and catching up with those new to the event. I chat gardening every Sunday morning with The Garden Guys. Call sometime and say hello. www.garden-guys.com Streaming live.
INVERT A TOMATO CAGE in a pot, cover it with chicken wire, then fill with spaghnum moss on the outside, peat moss inside. Poke in Sedums, hen and chicks, Sempervivum, Echeveria, Graptoveria, Graptopetalum, Pachyphytum, Pachyveria and other succulents. You created a TOPIARY TREE covered with "roses"!
COMPANION PLANTING is planting two or more types of plants together so they each derive a benefit. That can be stronger growth, disease and/or pest deterrence, attracting beneficial insects & predators of garden pests. Corn, beans & squash are the "3 sisters" of the Native Americans & are best planted together. But did you know that morning glories planted with corn & melon will increase their yield?
