'Kwamra: A Season of Harvest' is a collection of poetry by Papua New Guinea writer Russell Soaba. Soaba comes from the Anuki tribe of mainland Milne Bay Province. Most of the poems were translated into various languages including French and Polish & represented in the pages of prestigious publications in the world. While King deftly makes Nell, Fen and Bankson her own, I found the underlying bits of reality extremely compelling. When reading Mead's notes or viewing photos/field footage of her & Bateson's time in Papua New Guinea, found myself at Nell's & Fen's field house w/the Tam, or w/Bankson in a Spirit House, watching the Kiona dance...similar this Iatmul tribal dance.
