The crew of four officers and six enlisted men that it typically took to fly the B-24 Liberator bomber behind them. This image was taken just after they were assigned to their new plane (without any nose art markings on her yet), and they joined the 8th Air Force, 93rd Bombardment Group (the "Traveling Circus"), 330th Squadron, flying out of Hardwick Airfield just south of Norwich, England (1944).
B-17F-115-BO s/n 42-30721 ‘Sweet and Lovely,’ 533BS, 381BG, Ridgewell, England. Ridgewell was where my dad flew his missions to Berlin, Schweinfurt and so many other places. He moved around in planes nic-named Hell's Angels, Joker and his personal plane the baby dumplin. He was the man on the button, bombs away!
