Total Solar Eclipse - a total solar eclipse is the rarest of the three solar eclipse types mentioned. In order for this event to happen, the Moon must be at new phase and not be near apogee in its orbit around the Earth. Much like the annual eclipse, only a select few will be able to witness the event in a narrow corrdor which stretches across the Earth from west to east.
