Valencich added Solistone to the back wall to create a focal point in the kitchen and removed the upper cabinets to open up the space. She then had the remaining cabinets refinished but kept the counters. The extra-thick poured-concrete bar “adds a nice weight to the kitchen, which is quite large.” Eight pendant lamps from HD Buttercup hang from a custom-made wood ceiling panel. Casa Kulanu’s salon features a sofa, lounge, and wing chair by Summer Hill, all upholstered in the firm’s fabrics. The mantel and mirror are Formations designs, the klismos chair is by Scala Luxury, and the small side table at far right is by David Iatesta. Multipaned transom windows top steel French doors; concrete tiles by Peacock Pavers line the floor.
