This is A Famosa, the famous Portuguese fortress in Melaka, Malaysia. Built in 1511 under the command of Afonso de Albuquerque, A Famosa means 'The Famous' in Portuguese. It is one of the oldest surviving remnants of European architecture in Southeast Asia. I took this photo way back in 2011 when visiting Melaka for the first time. Had to ask the locals where it was located and we were given several different directions that it took about two hours to finally reach there.
