March/2017 Our BFGP Hero Award goes to Richard Dreyfuss for his total an unabashed candor. Words like this inspire me: Step away for a second,” he recommends. “Understand the advantages that manic depression can give you.” He has empowered me to use the words manic depression over bipolar which to me always sounded like a Star Wars follow up to the Death Star! Thank you sir for your intelligence and power.

Sept./2016 In honor of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month the BFGP Hero Award goes to a phenomenal performer and writer and my friend Daralyn Jay. Daralyn was instrumental in getting me the help I needed that lead to a diagnosis which empowered me to realize I wasn't alone in the world. She is a champion for mental health reform with a strong desire to see society become more trauma informed. She was one of BFGP's earliest supporters.

May/2015 This month the BFGP Award honors Dr. Robert C. Barnes Ph.D. and Director of the Viktor Franklin Institute of Logotherapy. We honor him for the very reason Dr. Frankl believed in the importance of Logotherapy, "What man actually needs is not a tensionless state but rather the striving and struggling for a worthwhile goal." Thank you Dr. Barnes for keeping us focussed on our journey toward worthwhile goals!

Crestwood Behavioral Health - This is a comprehensive program that I guess is all over the state of California. Not sure if it is what I am looking for though. They have all different levels of care.

December/2015 the BFGP Hero Award for December goes to fellow Peer Advocate Gabe Howard. Gabe first came to my attention with his honest and fresh writing for PyschCentral. His voice for his fellow peers is a strong and powerful one in the mental health community. He is currently trying to write and get his memoir published and it is a book I am looking forward to reading. We honor Gabe for a wellness tool we sometimes over look and is so vital to recovery...a beautiful sense of HUMOR.
