This is an image of one of my paintings from the first year I started painting and watercolor was my first media. It was done from a photo I took in Italy over 25 years ago. I started my fine art education with the traditional theories and rules of realism as you can see. www.danniellemick.com
A new season is upon us as I look across the lake. The sun is still bright and I’m seeing multi-colored hues of gold, amber and plum. This is a pastel study I did keeping it very loose and minimal. www.danniellemick.com
This is a pastel painting I did last week. It's one of my favorite places to go, Provincetown, MA. The tiny cottages on the narrow streets with the old fashioned telephone poles speak to me. The sun was just going down with this warm glow cast over the city. www.danniellemick.com www.lakesideartstudio.com
This week we are getting ready for plein aire painting. This is a quick, 2 minute demo on using a red surface for the background color to compliment all the greens that will be in the spring landscape. www.danniellemick.com www.lakesideartstudio.com
Hello, I spent the day in LBI last week and it was the most perfect day. I took tons of photographs of the crashing waves, one of my favorite subjects. This is a pastel I did with a more dreamy approach, no hard edges. Enjoy!

I was going through some old photos and found an amazing image of Hurricane Earl from 2010, LBI. I am always fascinated with the ocean during these natural occurrences; the sheer power and force of the water. This is a detail from my most recent pastel painting. www.danniellemick.com www.lakesideartstudio.com
