Union Leader & Civil Rights Activist Addie L. Wyatt worked on a meatpacking line after being turned down for a clerical position because of her race. In 1953 she became VP of her Union's Chicago branch & then president of the Int'l Amalgamated Meet Cutters, the 1st Black woman president of an int'l Union. She was appointed to the Labor Legislation Committee by Pres. Roosevelt & was the founder of the Coalition of Labor Union Women & co-founder of the Nat'l Org of Women.
