My lord what an airplane. The Gee-Bee -short for Granville Brothers-the company that built this most lethal of 1930's racing planes. A real plane for a real good graphic novel by David Stevens called (wait for it) - "The Rocketeer." Later made into a movie that has become a cult classic in my house. The plane almost killed more test-pilots then the Japanese "Baca Bomb" flown at the end of WW2.
The world's largest battleship, Yamato. On this day in 1945 the Japanese battleship Yamato was sunk by American planes 200 miles north of Okinawa while en route to a suicide mission in Operation Ten-Go.
