If I were president...make silhouettes of children on black construction paper. Have the children write what they would do if they were president. Once the project was completed, I laminated the project for the children.
The Grinch needs love. draw a 'Grinch', cut out lots of red hearts. Hang in your classroom. When a student says something positive to another student or compliments another, they get to place a heart on the Grinch. The object is to cover the Grinch before Christmas. Kids love this game.
I would use this activity to help students get an idea of where they actually are in regards to the bigger idea that they live in a house, on a street, in a city, in a state, in a country and so on. This is helpful for students to actually get it so that it makes sense on their level. You could also do this on a smaller scale first of the school so they get an idea before the large scale project that this is.
