T-Bone Walker, T-Bone Blues***: Though this wasn't as good a foray into the blues as what I listened to last night, it was still an enjoyable listen that showed how rock n roll was finding its way into every nook and cranny it could find. The best tunes on this one are the ones where T-Bone gets his "rock n roll" on. Tunes like "Shufflin' the Blues" and "Play on Little Girl" showcase this. 7/28/15
Torn between this and Sketches of Spain as to which is the greatest Miles Davies album (and, in consequence, the greatest Jazz album of all time. For let us be under no illusions here, Miles is the King). I'll probably pin the other one as well just for balance.
Kind of Blue - The #1 Jazz Album of all time - and for good reason. In addition to being a flat-out terrific album, it has one other unique characteristic. It works both as background music AND as music you can let yourself sink into it - or let it go back into the background. Pretty interesting.
