If you have any experience with the UP of Michigan or would like to know what it is like to live up there, this book is an accurate, touching portrayal of that life. The characters are so charming and believable that I hated to finish this one. I immediately missed these people.

The second section on the black female figure throughout time introduces us to a writer who is not afraid to try new avenues to convey thought.
