Donald Judd renovated the Whyte Building to house four of his early paintings and examples of furniture by architect and designer Rudolph Schindler. Selected by Judd for the space, the furniture was made in 1991 by fabricator Robert Nicolais in Los Angeles, the only fabricator authorized by the Schindler family at that time. American artist Donald Judd (1928-1994) worldwide also designed furniture extensively. The "A Good Chair is a Good Chair" exhibition presented a selection of furniture designed by Judd, including early prototypes and items that Judd himself built for his own use in his homes in New York and Marfa, Texas.
