Remember how North America had somewhere between 10 and 50 million native people before European contact? Well it did, and North Carolina had it's fare share of noble savages. Tribes like the Carolina Algonquian, Chowanoke, Roanoke, Pamlico, Machapunga, Meherrin, Cherokee, Tuscarora Cheraw, Waxhaw, Saponi, Waccamaw, and other difficult to pronounce tribes were all once thriving peoples who have been lost due to plague, loss of land, war or good ol' fashion government supported eradication.
