Century Plant (Agave Americana). I noticed a group of these planted as a feature garden in a yard I passed by and the search was on to get one of these spectacular plants. They grow to 6-8 feet tall over a 15 year period, then they put out a 20 foot "bloom" that looks more like a pine tree shootin up out of it's center...then it dies. Puts out pups around the base of the plant, which you can dig out and re-locate or share. Caution...very sharp spikes on the end of each leaf.
