Red Rainbow Cichlid – The Red Rainbow Cichlid is said to be one of the smallest Central American cichlids, only reaching about 3 1/2 inches in aquariums. They are known for their rainbow coloring and do well in community tanks. These fish are easy to care for and breed, but do require very clean water and lots of hiding places.
Aequidens metae – The Aequidens metae is a very easy cichlid to care for, and only grows to about 6 inches. They thrive in tanks of at least 55 gallons, with lots of driftwood or rock structures where they can hide and breed. During breeding, these fish can get quite aggressive guarding their fry.
