4. Mural of the Centennial Covered Bridge in the heart of downtown Cottage Grove. The walkable downtown boasts art galleries, museums, bookstores, boutiques and cafes. It was a cute village and we liked it.
75. Our last Arizona day trip was to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum near Tucson. The 98 acre Desert Museum is a zoo, botanical garden, art gallery, natural history museum, and aquarium. It ranks on TripAdvisor.com as one of the Top 10 Museums in the country and the #1 Tucson attraction. Unlike most museums, about 85% of the experience is outdoors.
27. The PAVILION GALLERY MUSEUM includes The Pooh Gallery housing a permanent collection of Winnie the Pooh artifacts and memorabilia. Winnie the bear in Milne's books, was modeled after a real black bear in the London Zoo. An orphaned cub, Winnie was purchased in 1914 by Lieutenant Harry Colebourn from a trapper in White River, Ontario. Colebourn named the bear Winnie after his hometown of Winnipeg.
26. The historic Assiniboine Park Pavilion built in 1908 included a dance hall, a banquet hall, and lunch and catering facilities. The 90-foot tower contained the pump and water tower for the park's water system. Destroyed by fire in 1929, the current larger pavilion opened in 1930. It now houses the PAVILION GALLERY MUSEUM.
