Know your numbers! Resting pulse rate will tell you how "fit" you are. The fitter you are, the less your heart has to work when at rest. This means your resting heart rate (if you're in good shape from a fitness perspective) will be very low. As an example, I'm a few pounds overweight (about 10...working on it), but my resting heart rate is 52-57. My ticker is in excellent shape because I bike, run, do Zumba and move constantly!
