Oroville Dam - Is a rockfill embankment dam on the Feather River east of the city of Oroville, Butte, California in the United States. At 770 feet (230 m) high, it is the tallest dam in the U.S. as of 2012, and serves mainly for water supply, hydroelectricity generation and flood control.

Oroville Dam--Oroville, Butte County, California  Tallest dam in United States (770 ft).    My father helped sandbag the still under construction dam (and avert further disaster) during the Christmas Flood of 1964.  He even scored some silver screen time in a newsreel.  Go Dad.
