They were powered by a GAZ-M 50hp engine and armed with one 7.62mm machine gun. During WW2, they were used to tow 45-millimeter anti-tank guns and 120-millimeter heavy mortars. Avro Lincoln (mk2) although developed during WW2 (upgrade of the Lancaster airframe and the Rolls Royce engines) it was never put into production until after the war as a replacement to the Lancaster for fear of affecting the number of new bombers available to the RAF.
