P-40 P-40N-25 Lt. Joel B. Paris Joel B Paris III flew the P-40 while flying with the 7th Fighter Squadron and the 49th Fighter Group at  Hollandia, New Guinea. He enlisted and joined the masses of young Americans who were signing up for combat flight training after the unprovoked attack on the Pearl Harbor.
