✦ ugh, i gotta find some pins that match this. seriously. it is probably mostly bc of the "a rose by any other name" thing, but i always associate roses with this play. they are beautiful, like romeo and juliet's love, yet there is danger in grasping them too quickly (the thorns), such as the way that romeo and juliet rushed into their love too quickly, which ultimatey led to their deaths. it is a great symbol and you will see it constantly throughout this board lol ✦
Harlow Carr Harlow Carr has so many of the characteristics we value, combining great beauty with exceptional performance. The medium-sized blooms are of purest rose pink. The flowers begin as delightful, little cups, developing into cupped rosettes of perfect Old Rose formation, with a button eye at the centre. It is one of the most strongly scented varieties with a classic Old Rose fragrance.
Oh, and the part in Romeo & Juliette (A rose, by any other name, would smell as sweet? etc..) is actually a dig at a theater just down the street from the Globe called the Rose. The Rose theater was built on/very near a garbage dump/sewer and therefore smelled the opposite of sweet. you're welcome ;)
