King of the Cross - Mark Dapin - a book bought at a writer's festival. Dapin prefaces his novel with the statement, "Inspired by an untrue story". That "untrue" story is the story of Abe Saffron, Kings Cross's Mr Sin. And so it is a gritty tale, funny and oh well so very, very sordid. Take heed of the SMH: "this book is not for the easily offended". Fabulous characterisation, structure and writing (even though the mysoginistic main character made me want to vomit at times). 5 stars.
