The situation in Assam continues to worsen, with recovery of four more bodies in two incidents. Three men were killed and two injured after an exchange of fire between security agencies and armed men in Kokrajhar while one body was recovered in Chirang district. Reports are in that the 3 deaths occurred when police had retaliated fire against unidentified armed persons who targeted the Ranighuli police station in Kokrajhar.
Four low-intensity explosions occurred this evening in the busy Junglee Maharaj Road area injuring two persons, police said. The explosions took place near Balgandharva Theatre, at Dena Bank branch and a McDonald joint, while one was reported in a dustbin in the area, police said, adding entire area has been cordoned off.
The Centre described the near simultaneous explosions in Pune as a planned and coordinated act. Union Home Secretary R K Singh said forensic experts were examining the two unexploded IEDs and nature of the four blasts
