Tape Lace & Princess Laces - With tape lace, the lacemaker ‘turns’ the lace (a tape of mechanical lace made of cotton or silk) by hand upon the pattern. She assembled the final product and fills it in with needlework. Brussels tape lace is remarkably durable & launders well. Milanese Lace - Another well-known tape lace (not pictured). Princess lace - a form of appliqué that combines tulle and fine mechanical lace. These replace the Duchess lace motifs used in handmade appliqués on tulle.
