Rock of Cashel This fortress has been the traditional site for the Kings of Munster since the Early Middle Ages. In the year 1101 Muircheartach Ua Briain, king of Cashel, gave the Rock of Cashel to the Church, and the site was soon converted into a medieval cathedral.
Katharine Parr, Queen Dowager of England and Ireland, died an agonising death at the age of thirty-six. She had outlived her third, and most notorious, husband by just over eighteen months and died from childbirth fever after giving birth for the first time. Her husband and father of the little girl that was born was Lord Thomas Seymour.
