Iran's state-backed news agency has issued an apology after saying that rural Americans would prefer Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to President Obama, a "fact" they took from the satirical news organization, The Onion. The news agency Fars, republished an article that was a supposed legitimate opinion poll when in fact it was joke.
Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptists’ Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, made a second apology for said he was “making injudicious comments” about the shooting of Trayvon Martin during a radio broadcast. “My heart truly goes out to a family whose lives have been turned upside down by the shocking death of a beloved child,” Land said in his apology. “I can only imagine their sense of loss and deeply regret any way in which my language may have contributed to their pain.’’
Michael M. Kaiser, president of the Kennedy Center, apologized for strong language that he used in a recent tense conversation with Felix Sanchez, chairman of the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts, when Sanchez criticized the lack of Latino artists receiving Kennedy Center Honors. “I am writing to apologize for the language I used during our telephone call. It was an unfortunate choice of words. Sanchez has previously quoted Kaiser as saying “f--- yourself”
South Africa's ruling ANC has demanded an apology from a political cartoonists over the portrayal of President Jacob Zuma as an erect penis. The cartoon by Jonathan Shapiro, known as Zapiro refers to Zuma as "a dick" and ridicules his attempts at racial reconciliation in the apartheid-scarred country. The incident comes weeks after the African National Congress held street rallies and went to court seeking the removal from public display of a painting called The Spear, pictured here.
