Atifete Jahjaga At 36, Atifete Jahjaga is the youngest-ever and first female president of Kosovo, as well as the first woman leader in any of the Balkan states. As a former deputy director of Kosovo's police force, Jahjaga began there as a translator after the war in the late '90s, and served bravely in many capacities.
