This is an exquisitely preserved fossil of the giant predaceous diving bug Mesobelostonum deperditum from the world famous lithographic limestones of Solnhofen, Germany. It swam through ponds and lakes during the Jurassic, 150 million years ago searching for prey that it could grab with its raptorial front legs and then inject and kill with a tissue dissolving venom.
