This is another cat illustration I created for Houzz.com. Cats are very decorative so they're a natural for this popular home decor site. This cartoon is part of the Ideabook called "Six Reasons Why Every House Needs a Cat." Again, I drew it in pencil then used ink pen and watercolor on watercolor paper. This one features my big cat, Frankie, on top of the stove, curling up in an odd place as cats are likely to do.

Utagawa Kuniyoshi.    Shōken the swordsman, beset by a pesky rat calls on the neighborhood cats, who fail to catch the rat. Shokan himself tries and fails miserably. He calls on the help of a cat “widely known for her mysterious virtue as the most able rat-catcher.”  She catches the rat with ease, and that evening all the cats get together to discuss the art of ratcatching. The interesting discussion that follows shows Shokan how the greatest cats succeed by mastering their art so well and…
