Eydie Gorme Dies; Music Great Was 84

Farewell to Eydie Gorme (1928-2013), popular nightclub & TV singer. Eydie's start was on Steve Allen's TV show in NY in 1953. She is well-known for performing with her husband & their TV show: "The Steve Lawrence & Eydie Gorme Show." Together the couple toured the U.S. Eydie released Spanish albums during the 1960s-70s, with success in the Latin music market. Steve & Eydie performed together from the late 1950s-2002. Eydie earned both Grammy & Emmy Awards during her career. She was 84.

In this fascinating Oscar-nominated documentary, American guitarist Ry Cooder brings together a group of legendary Cuban folk musicians (some in their 90s) to record a Grammy-winning CD in their native city of Havana. The result is a spectacular compilation of concert footage from the group's gigs in Amsterdam and New York City's famed Carnegie Hall, with director Wim Wenders capturing not only the music -- but also the musicians' life stories.
