"Stone of Kamu River" by Mimiaki Kageyama, 2016. 300 year-old Urushi, 20K gold, pigment of cinnabar, gold pigment, champagne colour diamond, epoxy resin. The rings have mounted stones from the Kamo River, found by Kageyama fifteen years ago while visiting a friend’s studio and roaming on the river bank. They also employ 300-year old Urishi, various natural pigments, and gold. Bold and elegant - sculptural and raw, the rings engage an old material in a very modern way.
