Many people are severely lacking in zinc, a mineral the human body does not produce naturally. Zinc deficiency impacts biological functions including prognostic implications in cardiovascular diseases. Oysters are the highest ranked food for amount of zinc per serving. Other foods with a high zinc content include red meat, poultry, beans, nuts and certain seafoods. Note, phytates - which are present in whole grain breads, cereals and legumes; bind zinc and inhibit its absorption.
