Gaud Malhar Ragini. Bundi, Rajasthan, India Circa 1660-70. The iconography of an ascetic seated in a pavilion in a pond for Gaud Malhar Ragini appears specific to the Bundi region. The Bundi atelier is famed for its Chunar Ragamala series which was produced under Raja Bhoj Singh, in the late 16th century. It anticipates the style of the later Bundi paintings, but also draws a clear link to Mughal painting of the Akbar period.
