Whilst a very hot chicken curry may not hit the spot for babies, a mild and creamy one is often popular. Dried apricots are rich in betacarotene and also contain iron and korma paste has a slightly sweet flavour which is ideal for younger palates.
This tasty pasta sauce takes only about 10 minutes to prepare. The best way to skin tomatoes is to cut a small cross in the base of the tomatoes using a sharp knife, put them in a bowl, cover with boiling water and leave for about 30 seconds. Drain the tomatoes and transfer to cold water. The skin should then peel away easily.
You can make this with my tiny organic pasta shells or some left over cooked rice. For very young babies, you could leave out the pasta or rice and simply blend the sauce with the chicken and sweet pepper. Lentils are an excellent source of protein and iron, which is very important for brain development particularly between the age of 6 months and 2 years.
Rice pudding is a good baby food recipe if you add some cooked fruit like stewed plums or stir in a little strawberry jam or golden syrup. Alternatively add some chopped dried fruits instead like dried apricots or semi-dried mango, which can be cooked together with the rice. This is a quicker version of making rice pudding, cooking it on the stove rather than in an oven.
