This is a Hindu marriage ornament ('thali') of excellent quality, showing the goddes of good fortune, Lakshmi, and birds. Tamil Nadu; 19th c. Gold. Bought, many years ago, from Michel Halter. Now a very hard-to-get piece. Shown in "Ethnic Jewellery and Adornment", p. 308.
