Martini-Henry rifle. The first rifle in regular British service designed from the outset as a breech-loader, the Martini Henry was the primary British infantry weapon from 1871 through the First World War. An exceptional weapon, it was the backbone of Her Majesty's Victorian Army. It is a testament to the Martini-Henry's durability that several have been recovered in Afghanistan since 2010, still being used in warfare by the Taliban nearly 140 years after it's introduction.
