The Crossing
The Crossing is based on a rebuild and analyses of the Red Blue chair of Gerrit Rietveld. After building and analysing the chair I got inspired by the connections in the construction. From there I decided to design a stool that highlights these connections, But also makes the construction stronger. I combined the connections in the Red-Blue chair with the philosophy of the Arts and Crafts movement. I used an old upholstery technique to bind the elements together.

Bio-based
For a optional course at the Art Academy, I created a bio-based material. I started with making a bio-based glue. But the glue started to become a material of its own. the glue itself could stand on his own and can be combined with any other material. The Experiment got published in the book “A sense of green”.
Side by side
Side by side is based on an off the shelf machine. And created of a small piece of an old telephone from 1933. The small piece of the telephone is responsible for transmitting a signal. Like the transmitting of light through layers of material.

The Underground at War
The Underground at War is an exhibition space inside the former Down Street Station. The re-purposing of Down Street Station seemed to me an excellent opportunity to dust of the archive materials and give them a new life. Immerse yourself into the Second World War times. And learn about how people took shelter and continued their lives in the Underground. Including the Secrets of Winston Churchill. Spend a night at the museum to experience the Underground shelter. And much more...

The Collision
The Collision is a hotel room in the Diepenring in Groningen. My concept for the Collision was “The Collision between the city and it’s merchant history”. Groningen has a rich merchant history what is still visible today. I wanted to create hotel rooms throughout the Diepenring connected with the history of Groningen. Every room gives a specific viewpoint into the Diepenring Highlighting a special part of the merchant history.

The Pavilion
For the pavilion design, I experimented with different materials from 10x20cm. I had chosen for the materials plastic, glue, glass fibre and candle wax. The final design was inspired by the fan form created with the glass fibre. The pavilion was created for the Veluwe Nature Park.
Glass Pen
The glass pen is based on an off the shelf material. I picked laboratory glass and melted/ formed the glass into a pen. Laboratory glass melts easily and can be shaped very quickly. The pen is shaped by pulling both sides apart.
