Christmas celebrations in Kenya
Without MAF, hundreds of orphans in Songa, Kenya – would go without this Christmas. A swift two-hour flight from Nairobi to Marsabit enables charity workers from Secours Islamique France to deliver precious gifts of food and school materials, saving the team a tedious ten-hour journey by road. Bible Translation in Madagascar
MAF has been supporting Bible translation and distribution in Madagascar. Translation of the whole book into Malagasy took 2 years. MAF flew a team (pictured) from the ‘Church of Jesus Christ in Madagascar’ from Ivato to Fianarantsoa to distribute the new Bibles. The journey only took 1 hour instead of 10 hours by road. Passenger Larry Clyde estimated they sold 2,000 Bibles and the team took every opportunity to evangelise. (Photo credit: Irina Randriamandrato)

Transport for Ministry of Health in Timor-Leste
MAF Timor-Leste flights from Dili to Suai only take 30 minutes instead of up to 8 hours by car, which could be the difference between life and death for a patient in need. Dr Arvind Mathur (R) from the WHO recently flew to Suai with a team from Timor-Leste’s Ministry of Health and sums up the situation: ‘I am very grateful to MAF for doing good work in Timor-Leste, and I want to encourage them to continue medevacking isolated people and supporting other services.’

Dedication to Joyce Lin
Over the summer, MAF Papua’s freshly painted Kodiak 100 plane was dedicated to the late Joyce Lin. The much-loved MAF pilot and flight Instructor tragically lost her life shortly after taking off from Sentani Airport in Indonesia on 12 May 2020. The plane is now registered as PK-MJL in memory of Joyce. (Photo credit: Holly Syreen)

Knife accident medevac - Papua New Guinea
In Papua New Guinea it’s normal for kids to walk around with a knife. Knives are just a practical tool for cutting fruit and vegetables, firewood and grass. But if someone stumbles and falls, it can end disastrously. Earlier this month, MAF Papua New Guinea were called to medevac a boy who had fallen on his knife puncturing his bowel and liver. Two days after the medevac to Tabublil, we received the good news that the boy had his surgery and is recovering well.
