Using Visual Supports in Yoga Groups for Kids & Teens – being inclusive of learning styles
For upset young children we use this technique and change it up a bit by saying, "smell the flowers, blow out the candle." This helps young children regulate themselves. I find preschool age children need anywhere from four-to-five attempts before they begin to calm down. Sometimes, I demonstrate first and make sure they notice my shoulders rise and fall and how my chest moves too.
