Did you know the history of the Green Carnation? 💚
Oscar Wilde popularised the trend of wearing a Green Carnation as a symbol of gay identity. Wearing the Green Malmaison Carnation on the left lapel instantly became code for the LGBTQIA+ community of the 19th century, which he explained later in this 1894 novel 'The Green Carnation'. And going back even further, Sapphic Violets have always been associated with Sappho, the Greek poet from the Island of Lesbos who confessed her love for women. Happy Pride!
