Cornish Ceramics by Michelle Foote
Working on her traditional Leach kick wheel from her garden studio near her home town of St Ives, Michelle Foote creates work inspired by her immediate environment with a heavy emphasis on pattern and texture. She lives between the coast and a nature reserve and often utilises found natural and man-made objects such as pebbles, an old fisherman’s knife or shells to add designs and interest to her pots.

Ceramic Plant Pots
Porcelain paper clay plant pots handcrafted to emulate decay, erosion and fragility, complete with cacti. Paper clay is much stronger than ordinary clay due to the addition of cellulose paper fibres. It is designed for creating impossible shapes as the paper fibres avoid the formation of cracks and formation issues. Sgrafitto Bottle with Orange Dots
Elegant wheel thrown porcelain bottle decorated with a black geometric “sgraffito” pattern and delicate orange highlights. Sgraffito is technique where two successive layers of contrasting slip or glaze are applied to an unfired ceramic body and then scratched to reveal parts of the underlying layer. Raku Carved Copper Glaze Vessel - Ceramics
Raku vessel with copper turquoise glaze and unglazed carved lower section. Raku is a process which developed from a traditional Japanese firing technique developed in the 16th century. It involves the rapid gas firing of ceramic vessels in an outside kiln to around 900 degrees and then placing them into a reduction chamber containing combustible materials, The finished outcome is dependent on firing conditions and materials and cannot be reproduced making each item unique. £70
